Ever been to an Adventist Church?

Our local church is part of a worldwide assembly of Christians called the Adventist Church. Who are these Adventists? If you want to read more, please do so, but we would rather you visited us to find out for yourself! Most of us speak English, and if you need translation, we will be pleased to assist. Adventists see themselves as mainstream, evangelical Christians with a distinctive message. We invite you to visit us. Our church service often starts at 10.00 a.m. with a session of Bible study where everyone can join the conversation, and then a normal service around 11.00. Please keep in mind that our services are on Saturdays, not Sundays. There might be special classes for the children, but you have to look at the individual Church description to find the time and services offered.

Who are the Adventists?

Seventh-day Adventists are mainstream evagelical Christians with a distinctive message. We base our faith on the Bible and tend to interpret its teachings in a more literal way than others. We do believe that when the Bible speaks about a one week creation story, this should be taken as 6+1 days, where the 7th day is the time of rest. Hence the name “Seventh-day Adventists”.  Another issue that is important to us, is our passionate conviction in the nearness of the soon return (‘advent’) of Jesus.

Accepting Christ’s commission (Matthew 28:18-20), we proclaim to all the world the message of a loving God, most fully revealed in His Son’s reconciling ministry and atoning death. Recognizing the Bible to be God’s Revelation of His will, we try to present its full message, including the second advent of Christ and the continuing authority of His Ten Commandment Law. Acknowledging that development of mind and character is essential to God’s redemptive plan, we promote the growth of a mature understanding of and relationship to God, His Word, and the created universe. Affirming the biblical emphasis on the well-being of the whole person, we make the preservation of health and the healing of the sick a priority, and through our ministry to the poor and oppressed, cooperate with the Creator in His compassionate work of restoration.  In harmony with the prophecies of the Scriptures, we see as the climax of God’s plan the restoration of all His creation to full harmony with His perfect will and righteousness.
